Owing to (7political) difficulties ich affect Peoruitment of Northern Chinese I have reconsidered the vice expresuod in Commander-in-Chief Hong Kong's telegram No.0.A. 901 or 15th December, 1945, and now wich to make the following /

reccomendations.

(3) That Indian Contingent should be retained, but composed of 300 to provide only for riot squads, fixed guards and frontier poste. The intention is to keep Indiane from direct contact with the Chinese in polioing Hong Kong.

(2) That all former Mohammedans, if fit, should be taken back into the Police Force.

That balance of Indian Policemen should be diocharged on abolition tema except for two or three spaciai R,R,09. for Investigation branch,

(4) That Indian Contingent should be paid the aane as Chinese, plus ratione, Our savingran C.A. 1566 of 8th Jammary and your telegram No. 23 refer.

(5). That a punjab-speaking officer should go to India

and gupervise recruitment end discharge of those Policemen who are not (repeat not) wanted,
